Lake Irene Budkowski, nee Elster, Holocaust survivor, age 85, Beloved and devoted wife of Jack for 65 wonderful years; loving mother of Carol (James) Milgram and Marla (Avinoam) Cohen; adoring Nana of Mitchell (Danielle) Cohen, Daniel Cohen, Benjamin Milgram Phd, William Milgram and great grandmother of Avner and Miriam; cherished sister of Aaron (Jacqueline) Elster; revered step grandmother of Joseph (Cindy) Milgram and John (Ramona) Milgram DDS, and step great grandmother of Jacqueline, James, Jackson and Sophia; fond aunt of Steven and Robert and great aunt of Sarah, Allison and Jacob Elster. Graveside service Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 2:00 PM, at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. My deepest sympathy to the entire family. I met Irene many years ago, when her daughter Marla and my son Michael were school mates at Old Orchard Junior High and Niles North High School. Although, I haven’t seen Irene for quite a few years, we sometimes bump into one another at the Jewel in Skokie, and talk about our children. I really enjoyed our conversations , and she was such a wonderful lovely person. My son Michael, who has been living in Va for many years, extends his condolences also. I shall always cherish my fondest memories of Irene.
